  • The Frightening Transfer Of Taxpayer Info To A Powerful Force

    June 10, 2014 • Top Story • 2411

It may be too late for anyone to save Lois Lerner from herself and this won’t help.  Newly released, confidential emails  outline a startling connection directly between the IRS and Department of Defense.  Information gleaned from a Eric Holder subpoena show the IRS was sending the DoJ information about certain nonprofit groups and the personal information of their management for review and possible legal action.  Oddly, nothing within the IRS’ internal reviews showed anything was amiss, except for the fact that these groups were backing conservative politicians.  This sort of backroom scrutiny is dangerous and wholly un-American.

  • We have found that when men and women are left free to find the places for which they are best fitted, some few of them will indeed attain less exalted stations than under a regime of privilege; but the vast multitude will rise to a higher level, to wider horizons, to worthier attainments.

Flexibility is key in today’s economy, just look around.  The number of freelancing, contract workers who string together multiple part time jobs to make ends meet is the new ideal.  More and more people are becoming independent workers and giving rise to the ‘Flex’ Economy.  While this new mindset has freed many to pursue work they truly enjoy, but it has driven 37% of the labor force to the sidelines.  Many workers have been flexible, but even more have been broken.

  • Penny For Your Thoughts on Regulation…

    June 6, 2014 • Top Story • 1859

Regulations in this country are a hidden counter force that has held the American Dream down and sucked vital money out of the ‘Free Market.’ Here are five startling facts about regulations in the US: 1) There are more than 1 million regulatory restrictions that impose a significant burden on the economy. 2) The federal regulatory state costs the economy an additional $1.86 trillion annually. 3) Federal regulations amount to a hidden tax of almost $15,000 per household.  4) Every year, more than 3,600 new regulations hit the books—a rate of nearly ten new rules per day. 5) If it were its own country, the federal regulatory state would be the world’s tenth-largest economy—larger than that of Canada, Italy, or India.

  • When The American Dream Became A Nightmare

    June 5, 2014 • Top Story • 2075

Hope and change is the platform President Obama ran on, and a change to the hope Americans hold dear has been achieved.  Currently, six in ten Americans think the American dream is unattainable. It used to be that we thought our kids would be the next great generation, they’d have a beautiful home, white picket fence, two cars and apple pie.  But not anymore, for the first time in a LONG time, American no longer think the next generation will be better off.  Due to the runaway gravy train of backroom deals and wealthy special interests in government, the American dream has become a nightmare, full of debt, unemployment, and mediocrity.  Maybe there is a chance things will be better, keep dreaming.

  • Capitalism is essentially a system of mass production for the satisfaction of the needs of the masses. It pours a horn of plenty upon the common man. It has raised the average standard of living to a height never dreamed of in earlier ages. It has made accessible to millions of people enjoyments which a few generations ago were only within the reach of a small elite.

  • The Death of Summer Lovin’

    June 3, 2014 • Top Story • 1577

What is more American than apple pie?  It’s working that crappy summer job to pay for date night with the cute classmate you’ve been pining after all year, hopefully leading to some summer lovin’.  But that ideal is dying on the vine, thanks to an awful job market, a market that has seen carefree summer jobs become the staple of too many families, eking by on the minimum. This is the what happens when mortals meddle and try to control the free market, it destroys the American dream.
