  • POLL:Congress Less Popular than Polio

    October 11, 2013 • Top Story • 1472

While empirically not true, it’s safe to conclude that sentiment towards Congress these days is in on par with that of polio.  Speaking of popularity contests, it turns out the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize need not be present to claim their prize, or even answer the phone.  For good measure, a list of 12 Nobel Prize winners who should have never been.

  • Agencies/White House Trade Your Private Info Like Venereal Diseases at Burning Man

    October 10, 2013 • Top Story • 1460

It turns out that the White House and various agencies are trading taxpayer’s private information, what could go wrong with that?  Good news for us, according to law, federal employees who illegally disclose confidential taxpayer information could face five years in prison.  If only that law could extend to those who authorized the spending of $84k on exit signs at a bowling alley.

  • USA: Home of the Free, Land of the Dumb??

    October 9, 2013 • Top Story • 1501

Thanks to government interference, the once shinning educational system in the US has been reduced to an laughing stock among developed nations.  According to a new report, the US ranks 5 spots below the world wide average in math, literacy, and problem solving.  If we ranked the Congress in problem solving, they’d probably rank somewhere behind Rwanda.

  • USA-Canada Merger, Not As Crazy As It Sounds

    October 8, 2013 • Top Story • 1497

Actually, a US-Canada merger would be a terrible idea, but one Canadian journalist wants to convince you otherwise. Speaking of bull, on the 7th day of the government shutdown, the Utah National Guard purchased a mechanical bull to replace their existing mechanical bull, which is broken beyond repair.

And the cherry on the ‘wtf sundae’ that is America these days: a Long Island middle school has banned the ‘tossing of footballs’ at recess. We think they’re watching too many Brady Bunch reruns out there.

  • Govt to Arrest Pro Bono Priests Serving Troops

    October 7, 2013 • Top Story • 1472

The newest casualties of the week long government shutdown are priests donating their time to US military.  Yep, priests who are willing to spend their free time offering counsel and sacrament to those who have dedicated their lives to protecting ours, have been told by their boss to stay away, or risk arrest.  What kind of upside down world is this?

  • Free Market Works, Congress Pays More for Dinner

    October 3, 2013 • Top Story • 1348

One upside to the government shutdown, restaurants in DC are jacking up prices on their Congressional patrons.  It’s nice to see businesses flourish without the government interference.  The shutdown has not been kind to reporters, especially those covering Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA), Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV), and Rep. Eliot Engel (D-NY), all three Congressman have reprimanded reporters for asking pointed questions about their understanding of Obamacare.  How dare they.

  • $98k Govt. Outhouse Open for Business, but Good Luck at the WWII Memorial

    October 2, 2013 • Top Story • 1365

Amid a tenuous government shutdown, the Federal Bureau of Land Management has inflated the cost of a $10k outhouse to $98k.  It’s no surprise things are at a standstill in DC, but blocking WWII veterans from visiting a memorial dedicated to them could have been avoided, really?  If Congress was hands off,  would the memorial still be open?
