  • Destroying Businesses Is Our Business

    May 7, 2014 • Top Story • 1420

The Brookings Institute is out with a new finding that may not surprise anyone.  They looked at the rates of new business creation and destruction since the late 70s and have found that the American economy is at the lowest point of entrepreneurial-ism in the last three decades.  The most startling discovery focused on the last three years, wherein businesses where going under at a much higher rate than they were being created, so it’s not just jobs we’re not creating, it’s entire businesses.

  • The Road To Recovery Is Paved With Destructive Agendas And Political Greed, How’s The Ride?

    May 6, 2014 • Top Story • 1326

The long road to economic recovery has been a tough one, the U.S. economy barely grew in the first quarter as exports tumbled and businesses accumulated stocks at the slowest pace in nearly a year.  Most economists think things are going to stay at a slow as they were in the first quarter well into the year, just in time for election season and that means more bad decisions.  Bad decisions will be made by pols vying for offices they probably don’t deserve and We the People will suffer the consequences, hang on for the ride.

  • Shadowy Figures May Be Lurking In You Portfolio…

    May 5, 2014 • Top Story • 1816

Last Winter, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, which oversees how investments are sold, proposed a very invasive and shadowy idea called CARDS.  It stands for Comprehensive Automated Risk Data System.  It’s a fanciful way of saying ‘We want to automatically spying on every trade you make.’  The premise is that every now and again traders of lest that perfect repute make some shady/illegal deals and that can’t happen, but what if there was a way to automatically see every transaction at once and scan them in real-time for bad behavior?   Behold CARDS.  What could go wrong?

  • Feds Expand Power To Regulate Our Lives, But What Else Is New?

    May 2, 2014 • Top Story • 1417

There are a lot of startling things coming out of the White House’s new transportation spending bill, including expanding the authority of the Department of Transportation and toll on federal highways.  The expansion of authority includes the power to enter private property under the guise of ‘validating’ miles-per-gallon claims, that has a very ominous feel to it.  The tolls on federal highways is equally disturbing because it doesn’t make any sense.  We are facing a sluggish economy that has squeaked by on anemic growth and now the WH wants to allow tolls?  Most of the products that the middle class consumers move on those roads, can the middle class really sustain another hike in costs?

  • When Government Agencies Gain Power, We Lose Rights

    May 1, 2014 • Top Story • 1329

The Supreme Court ruled in favor of allowing the EPA more authority over our lives, this time using the guise of pollution traveling across state lines.  Sure, smog traveling from one state to another is probably a bad thing, but when the government gives the government more power, it costs US the right to handle out own business.  If Ohio is polluting the air of Indiana, then Indiana can take it up in court and let it play out.  We don’t need the EPA policing our businesses in the name of ‘Global Warming’ or whatever it’s being called now.

  • Taxes Are For Losers – Will Someone Tell The Losers In Charge?

    April 30, 2014 • Top Story • 1327

Online sales tax ruins business, just ask the folks at Amazon.  In a new study from The Ohio State University, research shows that companies facing online sales tax lose almost 10% of their revenue.  Where does that revenue go?  Not to brick and mortar stores, those dollars go to other online businesses not subject to online sales tax.  So while states pitch this as an opportunity to ‘protect’ local brick and mortar stores, the reality is that this is a money grab aimed at filling the budget gaps they created by running their states like morons.

  • …That You’re Paying For 1 in 5 Families

    April 29, 2014 • Top Story • 1556

Being poor isn’t fun, but working 9-5 isn’t fun either, so why do 20% of families in this country get to benefit from the other 80 percent’s labors?  In the name of fairness, that’s why.  Or so called ‘fairness.’  Fairness has become the mantra for liberal agendas. Agendas aimed at growing a dependency on government handouts, then scaring those core dependents into thinking their way of life is going to change, ie their handouts will end and they’ll have to work like the rest of US. Anyone with a brain would tell that this model will lead to a complete collapse, but maybe that’s what they want?

  • Would You Believe The UN Report On Climate Change Was Altered For Political Reasons?

    April 28, 2014 • Top Story • 1444

Hard to believe, right?  It’s hard to fathom that anyone would fabricate or omit pieces of data that would discredit the  notion of climate change as a big deal.  But what is even more startling is that a lead author of the UN’s big, scary report on doomsday climate scenarios claimed the report was altered/edited for political reasons on Friday, and the whole weekend went by without anyone calling for his head.  You would think if there would be a major rebuttal if it wasn’t true…

  • Illinois Politics Scams It’s Way Into Presidential Library History

    April 25, 2014 • Top Story • 1457

It’s no surprise that a state where 4 of its last 7 governors were convicted and imprisoned for running scams of their own, that the push for a presidential library in Illinois has started with a scam.  Illinois Speaker of the House, Mike Madigan, is allegedly as corrupt as they come and this past week is a prime example of such allegations.  When a House committee in Illinois convened without it’s Republican representation, the committee’s chairman jumped at the chance to approve a controversial $100m spending plan for the Barack Obama Presidential Library to be built in Chicago. The best part, the chairman -with the backing and assumed guidance of Mike Madigan- lied about the vote, calling it a unanimous ‘Yes’ vote.  How can people not in attendance vote yes for something they don’t want?  They can’t but in Illinois, when Dark Lord Madigan says jump, the rest of the party pushes over the opposition and jumps……up and down on them.

  • Complaining About Inequality Is A Fools Task: It’s Not A Conspiracy, It’s Life

    April 24, 2014 • Top Story • 1624

Many people in this country pound their fists and yell real loud, calling on those that will listen to ‘fix’ the inequality that persists in society.  But what is inequality?  Is it being born in a better zip code, going to a better school, living a better life and feeling guilty for making use of every advantage?  Or is it a fact of life?  The truth is, life is unfair, every good father or mother has told their child this and it’s a base fact of existence.  There will always be someone better, stronger, faster, smarter, but the doesn’t make it unfair for both to exist, it’s life.
