Minimum Wage, Maximum Spin

The hot new ‘thing’ in DC is calling for raising of the minimum wage because it will save US all from poverty and reboot the economy. What a bunch of crap. The myth that a low minimum wage is keeping workers poor and raising said wage would give people freedom to spend money, thus growing the economy is a lie, especially since only 1% of all workers make minimum wage. The truth, the overwhelming majority of workers who work AT minimum wage are TEENAGERS! So when the President ‘urges’ Congress to do the right thing at raise minimum wage, all he is doing is pandering to those who buy vote with their hearts instead of their minds.

Congress Be Damned

The end of freedom is nigh. The President is ready to do what he wants and doesn’t care who knows it. Tonight the Prez will takeover the airwaves and tell US what he plans to do for the rest of his tenure as Corrupter & Chief, whether we like it or not. Of all the things this administration has done (arresting journalists dissent, bombing innocents abroad at will, tracking our every action, etc) his plan to use executive fiat to raise wages (ie taxes) is probably the scariest. Checks and balances anyone?

State Of The Union: It Sucks

Imagine a time when this great country was in its infancy. A time when inequality meant your were a woman or someone of a different skin tone. A time when illegal aliens were building cities and fighting wars. A time when the ideals of this country were clear, although misconstrued to benefit the white & wealthy. Today, what are this countries ideals? We have Senators calling for amnesty for 10 million people who are working jobs that could be held legal citizens and in clear violation of immigration years. At the same time, others in Congress are calling for millions of unemployed Americans to get more handouts from the Govt. And we force companies to sell their wares for govt mandated prices and call it ‘affordable’. Now banks, behind the protection of the law, will hold your money indefinitely. Could you imagine one of the founding fathers in the audience at tomorrow night’s SOTUS?

Ben Franklin missed the mark when he famoulsy said: ‘Our new Constitution is now established, and has an appearance that promises permanency; but in this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes.’ You see, he forgot to add ‘cronyism’ to the list. The current administration is rife with pay-to-play cronyism, starting with the former Energy Secretary and his sweet gig with the very company he made sure got big bucks from the Government. With unemployment at near record levels, it’s nice to know those with friends in high places are immune.

A proposal being floated in Colorado is aimed at saving the institution through…more Government! Under the guise of ending divorces, this proposal would require those seeking a marriage license to participate in 10 hours of counseling for the first go around, 20 hours for the second and 30 for the third. The kicker, if you want to get a civil union, you wouldn’t be held to the same standard. But hey, if you want drop out of the workforce and collect welfare, you’re pre-qualified.

With 20% of the population in this country hooked on government handouts, an actualized unemployment rate of 37.2% and a national push to legalize pot gaining some traction, it sounds like the government has been reading a little too much Orwell.

The Freedom To Self Govern

Politicians and their ilk think you are dumb. In their eyes, you can’t handle your own retirement, healthcare, or vices, among other things and you need their divine intervention to set things straight. The reality is, they need US. We need to get back to a higher standard of self-governance, back to a reliance on American ingenuity and free will, back to what has set this country on top of the world. Could there be a correlation between America’s recent decline, the erosion of self-governance and the ballooning class of government dependents?

Snowden the Heroic Traitor

While Edward Snowden is enjoying his ‘freedom’ in Russia, PBS wunderkin Tavis Smiley has been positing the idea that Snowden deserves to be on a stamp one day. Snowden may have done US a great service by pulling back the curtain on the extent the NSA’s spying domestic program, but new concerns about whether or not he was doing so at behest of the Russian govt have shaded his patriotism. If Rep. Mike Rogers is right, the only stamp in Snowden’s future will be on his ass on his way to Guantanamo.
