  • $enate Talkathon Is All About The Green

    March 11, 2014 • Top Story • 1910

Democrats in Senate had a pajama party last night to push their green initiatives.  Sure, most of the talk was about green energy and saving the planet, but the real green at stake was cold, hard cash in the form of massive campaign contributions from big donors trying to cleanup their own images.  After 14 hours of hot air, the only thing that was decided, Republicans want the planet to die.

  • Do Nothing Congress Is Good At Something: Getting Rich

    March 10, 2014 • Top Story • 1693

The 113th Congress has not been a very good one and that’s putting it lightly.  Of the last 15 Congresses seated on Capitol Hill, most have had a bill conversion rate between 2.72% and 8.69%, the current incarnation… 1.37%.  While they may not get much via legislation, they certainly do one thing well, get rich.  This may not surprise anyone, but is should certainly appall.

  • Forgiveness Isn’t Fairness

    March 7, 2014 • Top Story • 1406

Here’s a scenario: Person A puts money away from every paycheck, check by check, accumulating monies until the day comes to put that surrender that money as a reasonable down payment on $300k home.  Person B talks about saving money, inherits a little bit of money and tries to capitalize on a high risk loan, with very little money down for a $400k home.  Flash forward – person B can’t make mortgage payments, facing foreclosure and their local Congressman sees this as an opportunity to cash in, pushing a law that forgives debt.  But what about Person A, the hard working, common sense American who was smart enough to realize they could only afford a $300k home?  He has to pay a higher rate to cover Person B.  That sounds fair, right?

  • Choice In Healthcare? What Is This, Capitalism?

    March 6, 2014 • Top Story • 1497

Zeke Emanuel is defending his pet project, Obamacare, and it’s stripping of American’s ability to chose their own insurance plan.  Zeke writes an op-ed claiming that choice is a bad thing, it drives up costs, lets doctors screw patients and keeps insurance companies from being flexible.  The BS alarm in CapUnion HQ is just overloaded.  I wonder if Zeke makes an appearance in CNN’s 8 part campaign ‘documentary’ on his brother Rahm?

  • Red Tape Strangles TV

    March 4, 2014 • Top Story • 1609

The Video Choice Act is on its way to passage and it’s a humdinger.  This bill would squash the free market that currently exist within the pay-TV universe.  Somehow, the government thinks that by putting another middle man, the FCC, between consumers and sellers, the prices will come down and be more ‘fair.’  ::FACEPALM::

  • 80’s Deja Vu

    March 3, 2014 • Top Story • 1730

As the last vestige of the Cold War in unfolding before our eyes, we hearken back to a simpler time when Russia was our enemy and everyone knew it.  Flash forward to 2012, the President to be all but laughs about Russo-American relations, mocking Mitt Romney about his deceleration that Russia is our biggest threat.  Hmmm…maybe if Romney had won, he would have seen this coming?

  • Socialist Speak For Taxes: ‘Shared Responsibility Payment’

    February 28, 2014 • Top Story • 1630

The IRS is re-classifying the Obamacare Mandate Tax, it’s now a “Shared Responsibility Payment.”  Oddly enough, the Affordable Care Act passed Constitutional muster in the Supreme Court because it was a ruled tax, not a regulation.  And even further, the President has used this fact to tweak Obamacare via executive order.  All this being said, the IRS still has the gall to call this a ‘Shared Responsibility Payment.’  But maybe it’s unfair to criticize the IRS, it does have a better ring to it and really is a more accurate description, than ‘Individual Mandate.’

  • Pay Your Prisoners Well

    February 27, 2014 • Top Story • 1606

It’s only a drop in the bucket compared to the full federal budget, but the Social Security Administration has been paying millions out to prisoners.  This is the same Govt that wants us to enroll in Obamacare and trust that everything will be safe.  This Govt couldn’t manage a lemonade stand.
