  • Slaves To The Political Class

    March 26, 2014 • Top Story • 1390

Remember when Democracy thrived in this country?  Probably not.  For too long, We the People have been toiling away for the benefit of the cronies in DC and it is ruining this country’s future.  Our collective will has been superseded by the millionaires on Capitol Hill to keep their pockets lined with our money.  Is this modern slavery on par with that of early history?  Not yet, but that’s because most of US are blind to the reality going on around US.

  • The Boomerang Effect’s Key to Eroding The Middle Class

    March 25, 2014 • Top Story • 1692

The President’s overtime pay rules seem like a great thing for the working class, but the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry.  There is an unsung casualty of these new rules, low level managers.  The Prez’s rule change expands overtime rules to those in management positions making up to $50k a year thus all but forcing employers to cease incentive programs aimed at incentivizing said managers, and replacing it with productivity sapping overtime.  What goes around, comes around.

  • Screwing With the Bible

    March 24, 2014 • Top Story • 1447

The wise wonder squatting in the Illinois Governor’s Mansion has some an interesting thoughts on business and the Bible.  Governor Pat Quinn is so certain Illinoisans need to be paid more that he is invoking the Good Book, calling for a $10 an hour minimum because the Bible says so.  Of all things to use the Bible for, really?  No one will disagree that working 40 hours a week deserves appropriate compensation, but is scripture the convincing factor?

  • Eat The Rich

    March 21, 2014 • Top Story • 2306

The clowns running Illinois are at it again, this time they’re targeting the rich.  Ringleader of the clowns, IL Speaker of the House Mike Madigan, is proposing a new 3% tax on income above one million dollars.  This is happening in a state with nation leading debt, outward migration and unemployment.  You would think that Illinois would want to use every trick in the book to attract businesses, instead, they are making it very easy for the titans of industry to choose states like Wisconsin and Indiana.

  • Fatigue & US

    March 20, 2014 • Top Story • 1509

It’s not easy being #1.  American exceptionalism has been the glue holding the world together for the last 90 years or so, and things have been pretty good.  But that kind of dedication to democracy and freedom takes its toll, and the world knows it.  Just look at Putin & Assad, two leaders who grew up knowing the US’s might, they bank on our fatigue and use it to their advantage. Should we policing the world and defending the freedom at every end?  Our grandfathers would say yes, but they lived in a different time.  America is tired and the world knows it.

  • Scapegoating The Young

    March 19, 2014 • Top Story • 1356

As Obamacare lags way behind its projected enrollments, the art of scapegoating has taken hold.  The newest target?  Young Americans who think they are too healthy to signup.  The true believers in Obamacare are pushing this idea that enrollment numbers would have been spot on if the very demographic the Affordable Care Act was aimed at helping.  That’s like McDonald’s blaming fat people for not salad sales lagging.  Have it your way, except not.

  • Cronyism Stinks Up America

    March 18, 2014 • Top Story • 1516

The Economist has an interesting analysis of crony capitalism that has been compiled into a handy-dandy index. There is a big ‘red flag’ in the Economist’s reporting tho, they omitted key pieces of cronyism in the US, such as Hollywood’s role in pushing agendas, the healthcare system’s role in fundraising for select candidates, and of course the DC norm of awarding ‘grants’ to those connected to the right people (Solyndra?).  While the US is better off than many other countries, the Economist’s errors strike to the heart of what’s wrong with media in this country, they pick and choose the truth the tell.  Is it lying by omission?  You decide.

  • The Racism of Reality

    March 17, 2014 • Top Story • 1330

What happens when liberals with an agenda decide to attack someone speaking about the problems facing urban populations?  The racism card gets played, and it’s wrong.  Recently, Rep. Paul Ryan was describing the culture of welfare dependency that is thriving in America’s cities, and now he’s being labeled a racist.  While what he was talking about might qualify as ‘racism’ because black Americans make up an disproportionate number of poor urbanites, that doesn’t mean it is ‘racism.’  The reality is, there are huge swathes of the population- white, black, or other- that get handouts from the government to cover their food, cell phones and now healthcare.  What Rep. Ryan was refering to was the feeling that these handouts are a fact of life, and that needs to change.

  • Congress Grows A Pair

    March 14, 2014 • Top Story • 1484

Even a broken clock is right twice a day.  The do nothing Congress has finally done something, stand up for the Constitution and the balance of power in DC.  While the President has been circumventing Congress via his pen and cell phone, Congress has mostly sat idly by and let Obama erode what semblance of a 3 branch system, but not anymore.  The growing feud between the CIA and Congress is hopefully the first step in realizing that, via cronyism, the President has been able to use the NSA, CIA, HHS, IRS, and probably other powerful abbreviations we don’t even know about, to intimidate Americans.  Hopefully, this is not the last battleground.

  • Serfs Of Us All

    March 13, 2014 • Top Story • 1705

The road to serfdom is certainly paved with our tax dollars, and the newest proof of that lies in the Rahmfather of Chicago.  You see, the Mayor of Chicago Rahm Emanuel is threatening to double property tax in order to cover a MASSIVE pension shortfall.  Which raises two questions: 1. Why is someone else’s retirement Joe Taxpayer’s problem? & 2. Where does a Rahm The Paycheck Impaler get the gall to threaten taxpayers?  This is another prime example of Union honchos and political clowns getting rich on our dime.  And it has to stop.
